Expert witnesses play a crucial role in the legal system. It is therefore essential that they are appropriately trained, in order to fulfil their responsibilities, demonstrate their objectivity and ensure they are abiding by the law and procedures affecting their work.
Parties who instruct expert witnesses need to have the confidence that the expert they select understands their duties to the court, but also has the requisite skills to produce a robust and compliant report and, if necessary, the ability to present clear and effective evidence at the hearing stage.
About the National Register of University Certificated Expert Witnesses
Bond Solon has developed the National Register of University Certificated Expert Witnesses to provide instructing parties with unique access to an extensive list of experts who have all been formally trained, assessed and deemed competent to act as an expert witness.
All experts listed on this register must have successfully completed a Cardiff University Bond Solon Expert Witness Certificate and/or the University of Aberdeen Bond Solon Expert Witness Certificate.
Holders of the Certificates are trained and assessed on report writing, giving evidence and relevant law and procedure.
Furthermore, it is a pre-requisite that any expert wishing to be listed on the register maintains a commitment to completing 6 hours of expert witness Continual Professional Development (CPD) every 2 years.
The National Register of University Certificated Expert Witnesses aims to assist those instructing experts in confidently discerning competent expert witnesses who are formally trained, assessed and qualified to act as an expert witness.
